Shiuh Jyu Plant Extensions and Renovations
Eight projects in three years on the same plant site, each one carried out while the production lines kept running.
Technical highlights
- The same client, three years running — Starting with a feeding platform in 2017, we went on to complete a lean-to extension beside Warehouse A, south wall repairs, the steel structure and steel deck for Warehouse C, Building D Phase 3, and a roof addition and skybridge at the headquarters.
- Extensions to existing factories — Raising the whole roof of the old fabric area and adding a connecting lean-to between Warehouse C and the old fabric area were both done on existing structures, not new builds on open land.
Project notes
Shiuh Jyu is, so far, the project on this site with the most complete range of work items. Counting from a feeding platform in 2017, we completed eight items on the same plant site within three years: a lean-to extension beside Warehouse A, south wall repairs, steel installation and steel deck for Warehouse C, Building D Phase 3 and its bridge deck, a roof addition and skybridge at the headquarters, raising the roof of the old fabric area, and removing the second-floor office at Xusheng.
The difficulty of work like this is not any single structure but that every item had to be carried out while the plant kept running. The extensions sit right next to existing factories, so the demolition and lifting work zones had to be divided very finely.
