02 / OVERSEAS EPC
Turnkey Factory in Chachoengsao, Thailand

Building overseas carries a whole new level of risk. Weather, regulations, language and local equipment are all out of our hands.
Technical highlights
- The risks are out of our hands — On a site in Taiwan, a missing member or a missing crane is a few phone calls away. Overseas there is no such fallback, so every variable has to be thought through before we leave.
- Sequenced by the weather, not the chart — The sky is different in almost every site photo, from clear to towering clouds to the lead-gray before a downpour. Chachoengsao's rainy season meant lifting only in dry spells, and the work sequence had to be rearranged around the weather.
- Erection with local cranes and crews — Cranes, operators and some of the crews were hired locally. The available capacities, models and working habits differ from Taiwan, so the erection plan was recalculated around the equipment we could actually get.
- If we can build overseas, Taiwan feels easy — That is how our owner puts it. Once you have worked through the least controllable conditions, a site in Taiwan is comparatively simple, which is why we are willing to take on overseas projects.
Project notes
A factory built in 2025 in Chachoengsao Province, Thailand, for a Taiwanese-owned company. Portal-frame structure, from erecting the column lines through to roof and wall cladding.
The hard part overseas is not the structure
A portal frame is not difficult in itself; we build dozens of them a year in Taiwan. What is difficult is everything outside the structure.
Weather comes first. Chachoengsao was in its rainy season, and the photos show every kind of sky from clear to the lead-gray before a storm; the standing water on the mud is the evidence. Lifting could only happen in dry spells, so the work followed the day’s clouds, not the Gantt chart.
Equipment and crews come second. Cranes, operators and some crews were arranged locally, and the capacities and models available differ from what we are used to in Taiwan. The erection plan had to be recalculated around the equipment we could actually get, not copied over from how we work at home.
Then there are regulations and paperwork, and language. Neither shows up in the photos, but both decide whether progress stops.
Why take on overseas projects
Our owner puts it plainly: if we can get a factory built overseas, building in Taiwan only gets easier.
An overseas project means facing every uncontrollable condition at once. You cannot phone for a missing member, official letters need a translator, and talking with the crews takes gestures. Once you have been through that, the things that used to feel troublesome on a Taiwanese site become comparatively simple.
